Last known location: Greenville, NC

↩ Back

This wooden block features a stratified sequence of padauk, maple, purple heart, green poplar and Brazilian cherry that is cut by cross-cutting normal and reverse faults. The block is also cut by two dikes: (1) a thick black walnut dike with contact metamorphic zones of dark mahogany, and (2) a thin red mahogany dike. Strata are exposed in a broad, dendritic drainage system that accentuates the classic Rule of Vs patterns. The base of this large block measures roughly 5 inches square and is finished with Tried & True® linseed oil and beeswax.
