Can you resolve the geologic history of this block!? This wooden block features a stratified sequence of maple, Padauk, mahogany, poplar, yellow heart, and Brazilian cherry that is cut by a sequence of geologic structures that includes 3 normal faults and 2 dikes (1/16 inch mahogany and 1/8 black walnut). The strata and geologic structures are exposed in intricately carved U- and V-shaped valleys. The base of the block measures roughly 4 1/4 inches square and is finished with Tried & True® linseed oil and beeswax.
