Set of four (A, B, C, D) wooden blocks that feature stratified sequences of walnut, Brazilian cherry, mahogany, maple, quarter-sawn white oak, cherry, and purple Heart. Strata in Block A dip steeply down valley and give rise to a V pattern that opens up valley. Strata in Block B dip moderately down valley and give rise to a constricted V pattern. Block B is also cut by a vertical dike of black walnut. Strata in Block C dip steeply up valley and give rise to a V pattern that opens down valley. Strata in Block D dip moderately up valley and give rise to a V pattern that opens down valley. The base of each of the four blocks measures roughly 1 1/2 by 2 and 1/2 inches. This teaching set comes with it’s own tray of lovely green poplar. The walls of the box have a continuous grain pattern that wraps around all four sides. The set is finished with Tried & True® linseed oil and beeswax.
