This wooden block features a stratified sequence of maple, mahogany, poplar, purple heart, cherry, and paduak that is cut by two normal faults and a vertical dike of black walnut. These strata are exposed in intricately carved dendritic pattern of V-shaped, river-cut valleys that radiate out from a mountain pean. The base of the block measures roughly 4 1/4 inches square and is finished with Tried & True® linseed oil and beeswax.
