This wooden block features a stratified sequence of tzalan, maple, ash, purpleheart, cherry, paduak, maple, mahogany, poplar, and Brazilian cherry that is cut by two opposing normal faults and a vertical dike of black walnut. The central fault block is uplifted as a horst relative to its two flanking down dropped hanging walls. These strata are exposed in two intricately carved, river-cut, V-shaped valleys. The base of the block measures roughly 4 1/2 inches square and is finished with Tried & True® linseed oil and beeswax.
