No. 44 Horst separating opposing valleys with dike

This wooden block features a stratified sequence of Brazilian cherry, cherry, maple, mahogany, and poplar that is exposed in opposing valleys carved into strata down-dropped along normal faults on either side of a horst. The strata are also cut by a vertical dike of black walnut. One of the faults is a scissor fault The base of the block measures roughly 4 1/2 by 5 inches and is finished with linseed oil and beeswax.
