This wooden block features a stratified sequence of poplar, beech, movingui, purple heart, maple, and Brazilian cherry layers that are cut by a reverse faults and a narrow dike of black walnut. The base of the block measures roughly 4 1/2 by 4 1/4 inches square and is finished with linseed oil and beeswax.
