↩ Back

This wooden block features a gently dipping stratified sequence of maple, cherry, yellowheart, green poplar, lovely figured Brazilian cherry, beech, maple veneer, purpleheart, and mahogany veneer. The sequence is cut by two, cross-cutting normal faults that are highlighted with white maple and red Australian jarrah veneers and a vertical dike of black walnut. Strata are exposed in a branching stream network to accentuate Rule of Vs patterns. This large block stands over 2 inches tall, has a base that measures roughly 4 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches, and is finished with a durable satin lacquer.
