Last known location: Katy, TX

↩ Back

This wooden block features a gently dipping stratified sequence of maple, yellowheart, green poplar, cherry, purpleheart, and padauk. The sequence is cut by a normal fault, a reverse fault, and two dikes of black walnut. See if you can figure out the order of cross-cutting relationships! Strata are exposed in a branching stream network to accentuate Rule of Vs patterns. This large block stands 2 inches tall, has a base that measures roughly 4 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches, and is finished with a satin lacquer.
