This wooden block features a gently dipping stratified sequence of mahogany, paduak, maple, mahogany veneer, cherry and maple veneer. These strata are cut by two normal faults with opposing dips, leaving a central uplifted horst. The entire sequence is then cut by a vertical dike of black walnut. These strata are exposed in broad valleys to accentuate Rule of Vs patterns. The block measures approximately 4 1/2 by 5 inches and is finished with Tried & True® linseed oil and beeswax.
