This wooden block features a stratified sequence padauk, maple, mahogany, purple heart, and yellow heart that is cut by a series of thrust faults and involved in a number of thrust-related folds. Thrust faults ramp up section from a basal detachment atop the padauk. Thrust sheets of maple, mahogany, and purple heart are involved in fault-bend folds. These fold geometries are highlighted by a single layer of mahogany veneer interbedded in maple. A dendritic pattern of v-shaped river valleys is slowly eroding the fold thrust belt into a series of low foothills. This large block measures roughly 12 1/2” by 4 1/4” and weighs nearly 2 lb 8 oz. and is finished with Tried & True’s Original Wood Finish of non-toxic polymerized linseed oil and beeswax
