This cutting board features a gently dipping stratified sequence of cherry, maple, purpleheart, padauk, Brazilian cherry, yellow heart, and beech. These strata are first cut by a reverse fault, then by a normal fault, and finally by a dike of black walnut. The dike has contact metamorphic zones of beautiful red jarrah veneer along its margins. This large board measures 11 3/4 x 15 7/8 x 1 3/8 inches and weighs just a touch over 7 lbs. All surfaces received 8 coats of mineral oil. To maintain the cutting surface, reapply a light coat of mineral oil once a week for 2 months, then once a month or as needed.
